Native Indian Returns With New Single 'Convergence'

Native Indian Returns With New Single 'Convergence'

8 June 2023

After dropping one of 2019's standout alternative hip-hop records in the Indian indie space with the debut album 'Vol 1: Nature of the Self', Siva Baskaran aka Native Indian has returned after more than 4 years with a series of singles clubbed as 'The Purpose of Rituals'. Introduced through the just-released track 'Convergence', 'The Purpose of Rituals' will serve as a prequel to the storyline of "a God-like being from the future travelling back in time to unearth the roots of his conditioning", which the Chennai producer-rapper introduced with his 2019 debut album.

The new single stands subdued in contrast to Native Indian's previous work without losing any of the grit as conversation recordings, drones and tabla (or possibly mridangam) usher in the song's main section which features the artist delivering Tamil spoken word in guttural voice to ominous effect.

Listen to 'Convergence' below and follow Native Indian for more information.
