flux vortex Thrives Between Dub & Drum 'n' Bass On 'Dogmatic'

12 August 2021

While New Delhi producer Aditya Kapoor aka flux vortex has consistently maintained a loose tether to dub in his richly layered form of dance music, the connection becomes even more subtle on his latest EP 'Dogmatic', released recently via Noosphere Network.

The title track opener forms itself around a bassline of 808s and a two-note passage of hang drums, the instrument being utilised for its hypnotic ambient effects without relying on typical tropes. The true movement of the track still rests with the subtle and meticulous tapestry of varied palettes that move about busily behind the limelight – a quality that stays common even as flux vortex dials up the intensity with the d'n'b number '4AM Solidarity', which features New Delhi artist Aditi Sharma's disjointed vocals take over the limelight, and the breaks of the closer 'Fritters'.
