Watch: The F16's In New York

27 November 2014

After winning the Road to Converse Rubber Tracks earlier this year, Chennai based rock band – The F16’s travelled to New York to record in the legendary Brooklyn studio by the same name. They’ve brought back two shiny new tracks – ‘Jacuzzi’ and ‘Blackboard’, not to mention a life’s worth of experiences that few Indian bands can boast of.

The outfit not only had the chance to work with some of the best in the industry, including producer Aaron Bastinelli who has worked with the Ramones and Grandmaster Flash, they also got to meet and interact with The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas before watching him perform live with the Voidz, - a dream come alive for the quintet.

The video below documents their enriching and uplifting journey in and around New York, and their experience with Converse Rubber Tracks – a community based, free recording studio that has since its inception provided much needed support to young artists. The studio offers state of the art facilities and top quality equipment needed to perform. The results of their efforts in the studio will be out today; the band had stated that they will be releasing ‘Jacuzzi’ and ‘Blackboard’ on 27 November.

The F16's, incidentally, also managed to play their first international gig in Brooklyn. Says Abhinav, “Playing to a completely neutral audience in Brooklyn to great reviews was fantastic and it has given us that little extra that makes us want to push on forward.”

Get a glimpse of their experience in their short video documentation below. Follow The F16’s on Facebook for updates. They will be performing live in Chennai on 28 November, Hyderabad on 29 November and Delhi on 30 November as part of NH7 Weekender.
