Creative Calls For Submission: Round-up

28 July 2014

We’re always on the lookout for interesting news and opportunities aimed at intelligent creative minds in the country. We’ve compiled a list of multiple calls for submissions for writers, artists, musicians, filmmakers and general creatives. It’s time to get cracking:

Akademie Schloss Solitude – Calling International Artists and Scholars
Akademie Schloss Solitude is a German based artist residency that aims to promote gifted creative minds from various artistic disciplines. They’ve opened applications for the coming round and are offering approximately 70 young artists the chance to be a part of their 3-12 month fellowships. International artists and scholars up to the age of 35 or if older who have completed a university or college degree within the last 5 years are invited to apply.
Application deadline: Friday October 31 2014. Take a look at their application website for further details.

Doc Wok – Calling Documentary Filmmakers in South Asia
Doc Wok is an initiative of Dok Leipzig, a German film festivals that is one of the oldest in the world and Magic Lantern Movies – an imprint of the foundation that goes by the same name which works to create public access to documentaries. After successfully completing its program in November last year, Doc Wok is back for round two and invites South Asian filmmakers to submit their work with the hope to participate in a highly competitive program that aims to support documentary film practice by bringing in expert guidance for editing, completion, distribution and international presentation of the film.
Application deadline: Friday August 22 2014. You can have a look at Doc Wok's website for further details.

Call for Proposals: IFA’s Arts Practice Programme
The Arts Practice Program encourages artists from various disciplines to critically examine existing notions within their fields of practice. The programme seeks to change the way the arts are conventionally practiced and create a foundation where experimentation, critique and dialogue play a vital role in creativity. The programme invites proposals both from practitioners working within as well as across disciplines. You could be a wtiter, curator, playwright or a performing/visual artist from any discipline.
For further details and updates on the deadline, you can have a look at Indian Foundation for the Arts’ website.

Call for Applications: Charles Wallace India Trust Awards 2015-16
The CWIT offers funded programs for various disciplines that vary between three months and a year. The programmes can be fully or partly funded and are on offer for anyone interested in their specific, niche area of study. What seperates the CWI Trust from the rest is that the way they sift their candidate – passion, commitment and a clear idea of what you want to do are major criteria for selection. CWIT understands the needs of creative people and tailors itself accordingly.
Application forms for Charles Wallace Long Term awards 2015-16 will be accepted from 01 August to 15 November 2014 at the nearest British Council centre. Application forms will be accepted in hardcopy only. You can check here for further information.

We also suggest you have a look at the Khoj International Artists Association's website for future opportunities in the creative circuit.
