2016 Red Bull Music Academy alumnus The Sine Painter has released his highly-anticipated EP, ‘URL Utopias’.
The 4-track release is neatly split into 2 parts, a ‘-’ (negative) and ‘+’ (positive) side. The Bangalore-based musician has built an incredible microsite, hosted on Red Bull’s networks, to accompany the EP.
The product of arduous work, the microsite is a visual masterpiece, allowing yourself to be lost amongst the abyss of the many options, the 360 revolving background and the erratically confusing (but pleasing) images that link you out to The Sine Painter’s respective social media pages.
A conceptual and accomplished piece of work, the production is minimal throughout. In the first two tracks, - (Pt.I) and - (Pt.II), the beats are scarce, metallic and feel a bit stiff. But it’s the latter half, + (Pt. I) and + (Pt. II) that are steadfast and uncompromising - it brims with confidence and positivity.
The Sine Painter will be heading out on a 4-city tour to Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai soon with visuals specifically designed for the EP.
