An In-Depth Look Into Sónar Hong Kong

22 March 2017

Sónar held its first edition in Barcelona back in 1994. Since then it has gone on to host a diverse array of music and creative technology innovators year on year - earning a reputation for uniting electronic music lovers and creative communities, from around the world.

Having already held editions in London, Chicago, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Hamburg, Bogotá, New York, Seoul, Rome, Cape Town, Copenhagen, and Tokyo, Sónar will be heading to Hong Kong for the very first time this April.

Taking place across six stages at the Hong Kong Science Park, Sónar’s Hong Kong Edition will take place on 1 April 2017. With a musical programme that includes DJ Shadow, Powell, Lady Leshurr, Gilles Peterson, Kode9, Nosaj Thing, Daito Manabe and more it’ll also host Sónar +D - a series of technology-centred activities, including workshops, talks, virtual reality and new media.

Non-musical highlights include a keynote from Daito Manabe (who'll also be performing with Nosaj Thing), abstract animation artist Max Hattler - showcasing his student's films and holding a Q+A session afterwards, Myriam Bleau, French Waves, and Choi Sai-ho, a local electronic musician and audio-visual artist.
