Tyrell Dub Corp Dials Up The Latter Bit In Dub Techno On 'MK618'

8 July 2026

Perhaps it is from experiences like collaborating with increasingly popular techno act Shaun Moses within the live duo MO/SS or a natural progression, but Sanil Sudan is definitely dialling up the second word on dub techno, the genre he has dedicated his moniker Tyrell Dub Corp to, on 'MK618'.

The new EP by the Delhi-based artist revs up the tempo for the first 2 tracks. Still carrying the expanse of dub and synth chords bouncing around unobtrusively, the opener 'Inner Garden' is one of the more percussive outings under the TDC banner. The rigid drum groove contrasts against the limber harmonic layers, and if there is a hook beyond the repeating bassline, it's in the interplay of analog tom sounds.

Even the succeeding title track gives the drums a more prominent role, as their mercurial echoes provide the only thing tactile in the engulfing yet elusive pumping atmosphere. Only on the final 'Drift' does the pace slow down and the textures get more easily traceable. They step out from the expanse as individual characters evolving noticeably to allow the hypnotic constantness of a bassline looping beyond the rhythmic framework and a mangled vocal sample repeating like a chant. With that, 'Drift' sets itself apart from the more cloud-like nature of the rest of the EP.
