Champak Introduce Themselves As The New Alt-Rock Band On The Block With 'Feed The Clown'
19 March 2026
Some familiar names from India's alternative music space, namely Shoumik Biswas aka Disco Puppet, Lakshman Parsuram aka February 31st, Aditya Bhardwaj aka Badie A, and Aman Chawla, have come together to form the band Champak. The 4-piece bedroom pop and alt-rock group has just released their debut single, 'Feed The Clown', from an upcoming 7-track EP named 'A1'.
Putting the classic guitar band format under an experimental treatment, they sandwich an accessible anthemic song between off-kilter sections. At the heart is a chorus that prioritises a shout-along energy and formula as simple to get into as The Cure's 'Friday I'm In Love', while poetry hides in the crevices of the verses with lines like: "Bells ringing in the temple // The Gods they've become feral."
