Run it's the Kid Return As A Duo After Nearly 10 Years With 'Hourglass'

12 December 2025

10 years ago, New Delhi had a bubbling four-piece outfit built around the joint penmanship of Shantanu Pandit and Dhruv Bhola (also known as Bowls, and a member of Peter Cat Recording Co. and Begum). A few months later, the group would release their self-titled debut as Run It’s the Kid (initially stylised as RUN! It’s the Kid). In the decade since, the short-lived yet intensely present band and their 10-track album have settled into Indian indie history as a memorable moment (and more) – one that was surrounded by and unfolding alongside releases like Peter Cat Recording Co.’s 'Portrait of a Time' and Parekh & Singh’s 'I Love You Baby, I Love You Doll'.

Now, a decade on, the band has returned, distilled to the core partnership of Shantanu and Bhola, sparking nostalgia for those who were listening closely back then, while offering a new chance to engage with the now well-recognised musicality of the two artists. The duo has just released the single 'Hourglass', the first glimpse of an upcoming 10-track album.

Kicking off with just the foundation of guitar strums and potent songwriting like "It is what it is, babe // Grab a band-aid", the track grows into a simple assembly of vocal harmonies, an energising rhythm section and a harmonium functioning like a sentimental string section. Shantanu sings a romantic number, wishing to travel and grow away from the burdens of a damaged past. Almost echoing the emotions around their very act of coming out of dormancy and jogging memories of the past for long-time audience of Indian indie music, the track gently leads the listener into reminiscing on a journey of sweet melancholy.
