Gilles Peterson, James Priestley & More To Perform At New Goa Festival GOAT

10 November 2016

Details have just been announced for a new festival set to take place in Goa from 27 to 29 January, called GOAT. The impressive lineup announced so far includes international bigwigs like Gilles Peterson and James Priestly along with a host of other talented international and homegrown artists.

We’re not sure if it stands for the commonly used modern acronym, or is simply a shout-out to everyone’s favourite baphometic vertebrate, but GOAT looks like it’s going to be a complete treat. Firstly, because it takes place at a time when Goa’s riotous New Year crowds have dwindled down to a bearable number and secondly because the lineup (curated by the London-based music and events agency of the same name) looks quite out of the ordinary.

“The intimate festival that seeks to position itself at the confluence of contemporary and traditional, between East and West, will introduce and showcase a side of India rarely seen by international travellers and curate a multi-sensory, immersive experience unknown to many Indians.” - GOAT

The lineup so far includes (no intro needed) Gilles Peterson - DJ, broadcaster and label owner responsible for championing the electronic movement worldwide. He is also the festival’s ambassador. Joining him is Secretsundaze founder James Priestley, Pune/London prodigy Sarathy Korwar, Dope St. Jude, Sorceress, Yussef Kamaal, Henry Wu, Janus Rasmussen (of Icelandic duo Kiasmos), Marquis Hawkes and Kuenta i Tambu.

Homegrown acts include Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator, Sandunes, Aqua Dominatrix, Kumail and Madboy Mink.

More announcements TBA. Full lineup here.

Apart from the music, GOAT will also feature yoga sessions, on-site spa therapies, dance and art workshops, storytelling and more.
