Krithi Explores Vast Inner & Outer Spaces On 2-Track Release 'Expedition / Traverse'
11 March 2025
Between her slew of garage/grime remixes of Tamil and Bollywood songs, and performing with the Daytimers collective at Four Tet-curated Four Tet & Friends, Krithi has gone back to combining sounds from her heritage with club music for introspective outings.
The Chennai-born Brooklyn-based DJ and producer has released 2 tracks: 'Expedition' and 'Traverse'. Contrastingly from her usual fare of original music, the EP maintains a lot of space in its compositions alongside a foreboding mood from the grime-influenced guttural low-end rhythms on 'Expedition' that are replaced in effect by the Konnakol recitations as they combine with drill influences on 'Traverse'. The spaciousness creates the mood of an expanse – signifying both the spiritual within and the cosmic beyond – without resorting to obvious tools like lofty pads and retrofuturistic synth tones.
