Tyrell Dub Corp Looks At Classic Forms Of Techno With New EP 'SSEY'

There's definitely a change underway for Tyrell Dub Corp. What was once the dub techno outlet for New Delhi DJ, producer and party curator Sanil Sudan (who also produces as FILM) has branched out with the latest EP 'SSEY'.

Instead of meditative and gradual like Tyrell Dub Corp's previous discography, the new 3-track release chooses to be atmospheric with its reverberating peripheral elements as a more in-your-face arrangement of classic techno sounds undergoes more acute (though never sudden) transformation while maintaining a near-minimal aesthetic.

The opening 'CV23' itself has three different countenances in its 6-and-a-half-minute runtime with the influence of Detroit techno remaining apparent in the intuitive subtleness of the audibly present "performance" of the record as well as in the trace of EBM and industrial. The juxtaposition of the mechanical and the humanness of the performance is the highlight of the EP, especially prominent in the subtle and simultaneous movement of the interlocking layers on the final number 'OC7' for a whirring psychedelic effect.
