Call For Application: Monkey Shoulder & Worldwide FM Launches Fund To Support Grassroot Music Communities

10 April 2024

Monkey Shoulder, the Scottish malt whiskey brand, has just joined hands with Worldwide FM, the internet radio founded by selector Gilles Peterson and Thristian Richards, to launch Studio Monkey Shoulder. The initiative aims to give a fund of INR 10,00,000 to a grassroots music community, collective or organisation that is at the heart of music scenes in countries like UK, US, Taiwan, Nigeria and India.

Such definition can apply to anything from rehearsal spaces, live venues, online radio stations or any other place "where people connect, create and discover music". The grant will go towards helping bring a project to life and will be supplemented by help in project development, production assistance, content creation and creative inspiration. The programme will culminate in a global broadcast of the work on Worldwide FM and an interview with Gilles Peterson.

The DJ, broadcaster and veteran tastemaker says: "This is exactly why I started Worldwide FM radio and there are so many other incredible community driven projects out there I want to uncover, which is what excites me about Studio Monkey Shoulder. We have no idea where this is going to take us but can’t wait to see and hear it…"

The deadline for application is May 09, 2024. To apply, head here and follow Monkey Shoulder, Worldwide.fm and the initiative's associate in India WAVLNGTH for more information.
