Dokodoko Release Grunge-Infused Hindi Electropop With ‘Shor’
4 October 2023
Dokodoko, the duo of Sikkim-based vocalist-songwriter Dr. Kritika and Siliguri producer Debo Sanyal (who more popularly releases music as Dreamhour), just released a new song with a music video called ‘Shor’.
Their first track in Hindi, ‘Shor’ is an exploration of the noise surrounding us, both from the outside world and our internal consciousness, that shapes our thoughts and actions – symbolizing the chaos of external influences that gives rise to inner turmoil. The song explores themes of identity, and existential questions like what primarily shapes it, “are we truly ourselves or are we molded by the ‘Shor’ that engulfs our existence”, says Dokodoko.
The song echoes Dokodoko’s distinctive electropop style while incorporating a grunge-infused twist that adds depth to the song. The music video is a DIY effort filmed in a unique setting, the Storeroom, which is essentially a studio managed by Debo Sanyal. In the video, Kritika is seen navigating the external commotion before facing her inner “Shor” (or noise), a visual narrative that reflects the theme of the song.
