Wild City Launches Various Artists With Palms Trax, Flako & More
2 March 2016
Wild City is very proud to announce the launch of our new international event series – Various Artists. Starting this Friday, 4 March, we’ll be bringing down some of modern music’s most precocious musicians and producers to Indian shores. We’ve titled the series ‘Various Artists’ because it won’t be confining itself to the restraints of genre – this series could feature dark, dubby producers one week, experimental live electronica the next and pure disco the week after. The aim is to stay current and informed about the international scene's most forward thinking producers, and of course, to listen to some good music.
We’re kicking off the series with previously announced Belfast producer Space Dimension Controller who’s known for his sound, which combines elements of (“intergalactic”) funk and electro. The Irish native first caught the attention of the international music community with his hugely acclaimed debut ‘The Love Quadrant’, released when he was just 19. SDC will be joined by Boiler Room’s head of music, Raji Rags.
Next up we have Berlin based Palms Trax, who many of you will remember from the last edition of Magnetic Fields Festival, where he played an unforgettable, energy charged set at the RBMA night stage. You can’t help but move to his unique brand of dusty, synth laden and melodic brand of house.
Next up is one of out favourite artists of the moment – Chilean-born producer Dario Rojo Guerra, a.k.a. Flako (already announced at Indie March Festival), who first emerged onto the beat scene in the late 00s with his Dilla-esque hip-hop driven tapes. His recent production, however, on last year’s incredible ‘Nature Boy’ LP sees him employ a much more orchestral sound.
The first week of April will feature performances by genre bending producer Roska. The UK beat maker is known for his distinctive an explosive cocktail of swung house percussion, blocky melodies and body-battering sub-bass.
