IndiEarth XChange 2015 Announces Full Music & Film Lineup

The fourth edition of the IndiEarth XChange is all set to take place next weekend from 27 to 29 November at the Vivanta by Taj, Connemara, Chennai and the excitement is mounting day by day. This year, the annual trade event and showcase festival for the independent music, film and media sectors, will feature 40 musical performances and over 50 independent film screenings as well as a series of conferences, workshops and think tank sessions hosted by professionals in the industry.
The IndiEarth XChange is an excellent arena to meet new people in the creative industries and find professional platforms to expand and grow. It’s also a great place to listen to new music and watch the best that independent cinema has to offer.
This year's music festival will showcase a carefully curated selection of sound which will feature acts from all over the world. Glasgow based electronic artist Howie B – who has produced for acts like Bjork, Tricky and U2 – will be performing and conducting a workshop on music production. Other international outfits include Maloya/protest band Ziskakan from Reunion Island, electronica producer/mindfulness trainer Phoebe Kiddo, Dutch cellist Saskia Rao De Haas, China based grunge act Tulegur and French alternative power rock band Ko Ko Mo to name a few.
IndiEarth Xchange has also roped in some of the finest homegrown talent for their event this year. Artists include singer/songwriter Tajdar Junaid, organic-electronic outfit Nicholson, ace Chennai alt-rockers The F16’s, Delhi based producer Curtain Blue, Qawwali troupe The Hussain Group Qawwals, Baul singer Lakhan Das Baul, future garage DJ/producer Sandunes and indie outfit The Koniac Net among others.
The film festival this year will screen over 50 independent releases, showcasing some of India’s finest independent talent. The international selection features a collection of shorts, animations and documentaries from around the world, many of which have collected awards and praise from enthusiasts and critics alike.
The XChange’s Workshop Program has been initiated under the EarthSync Academy and offers a number of master classes and discussions with global industry professionals. These will include a workshop on music journalism led by Simon Broughton, of UK based world music magazine Songlines; ‘Ableton Live: Workflow For Musicians’ which will be hosted by musician/producer Yoav Rosenthal; ‘Film Editing and Sound Design’, led by Media-School; ‘Native Instruments: DJing In The Digital Age’, which will be hosted by BLaNK and Auxfox and ‘Mindfulness For Creatives’ by Phoebe Kiddo among others.
Needless to say, IndiEarth Xchange is going to be an incredible experience for anyone from the creative industry and a huge opportunity to push the culture and art of South Asia internationally.
