Kitanu Mix Rock, Jazz & Sarod On Eponymous Debut EP

19 August 2021

New Delhi 5-piece band Kitanu throw in light mystical hooks of Sarod and lightly swung backbeats over the rock energy of belted vocals, distorted guitar riffs and upbeat rhythm section to create a stylistic mesh representative of the band's varied influence on their eponymous debut EP.

The three-track release, by the group of Rohan Prasanna on Sarod, Siddhant Sarkar on vocals, Omkar Raghupatrani on guitar, Guru Ganapathi on drums and Arman Handa on bass guitar, best embodies the stylistic confluence on 'Pebble', while the under-processed nature of the opener 'Vacation' packs the raw charm only found in early-career works. The clear winner of the band's prowess however comes with the grand closer 'Faith', which traverses through interludes both calm and rousing over its expansive run.
