Dropbox Talent / First Listen: ‘+-’ by Fukait

Dropbox Talents is our favourite recurring series here at Wild City. We’ve had the opportunity to spread the word about a number of rising beat-makers whose music we believe in including Worms Cottage, Paraphoniks, Tarana Marwah and the Sine Painter (who was recently selected to participate in this year’s Red Bull Music Academy).

Joining their ranks is Delhi based drummer and fledgling producer Sanchit Sawaria, who goes by the alias Fukait (pron. Foo-kait) - our latest Dropbox Talent. He contacted us via SoundCloud recently with a couple of tunes and the promise of a new EP, set to come out some time this month.

We’re very excited to share the first listen of on his track from the forthcoming 'Fukait' EP, called ‘+-’.

Sawaria divides his time between design and music (certainly not the first time we’ve seen that combination) and has been playing drums since he was 15. His influences include Royksopp, Aphex Twin, Mehliana, Jojo Mayer and the Nerve and he’s also a fan of Indian folk and classical music.

‘+-’ is an undulating, slightly whimsical tune with some interesting ideas in structure and beat. It’s gotten us excited for what’s to follow in the EP. We also strongly recommend you check out Fukait’s other work on soundCloud, which sees him employ electronic and ambient melodies with experimental percussive patterns.

“Since this is my first release, it’s mostly a mix of things I've been trying out .You can expect ambient and dreamy sounds. I'm currently living this twin life between design and music, so the creative process is very intuitive, and I like to wander off to unexplored melodic territories.
