Border Movement Sound Lab in Images

12 February 2015

Mumbai is brimming with music at the moment with the Border Movement Sound Lab underway as we speak. An initiative of the Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan and Border Movement, Sound Lab provides an intensive learning experience to its selected participants and aims to connect contemporary musicians from South Asia and Germany. If you’re unfamiliar with the workshop, we wrote about it in detail here.

The dedicated team in Mumbai has been keeping us updated in the capital with news of Sound Lab so far. The participants at this edition include Sandunes, Akshay Rajpurohit (of Scribe and Aqua Dominatrix), Sri Lanka’s Daffy Maestro, Snow Shoe as well as Toto Wolf, Oren Gerlitz and Sasha Perera, who recently performed to enthralled crowds as Perera Elsewhere. They’ve been tinkering around with some fantastic equipment and putting up special performances each night during the workshop series.

We also received a series of photographs of the beautiful space, talented musicians and events that have taken place so far, just before their stint ends tomorrow with (what we predict) is going to be an exhilarating show that will see each musician showcase the music they've been working on over the course of the workshop, as well as a very exciting performance by Akshay Rajpurohit aka Aqua Dominatrix that begins at 8pm. The team will also open rehearsals to the public from 6-8pm today and tomorrow.

You can peruse the beautiful photographs from the event below.
