TSM Host Free Workshop In Pune This Weekend

Mumbai based True School Of Music (TSM) is extending its reach to Pune for the weekend, with a free Music Works seminar at Euriska in Pune this Sunday 24 November.

The workshop is a combination of conversations and demonstrations hosted by some of the biggest acts in India including Monica Dogra, Ranjit Barot, DJ Uri, Agnee, Vasuda Sharma and Ashutosh Phatak, as well as musicians from Berlin and the True School of Music Professional School Faculty. Open to students and parents, the workshops will explore career options in the music industry ranging from DJing and composing to sound design and performance. Check out the format of the day below:

12pm – 2pm: Brunching with the stars
An informal brunch that is open to all participants of the seminar, this will be an opportunity for people to interact with the various musicians and TSM faculty present at the venue, and an ideal time to informally chat with them about careers in music, the school and so on.

2pm – 2.15 pm: Block Rockin’ Beats with Ranjit Barot
The versatile drummer and musician will display his skills on the drums and speak to participants about his own experiences composing, as well as his techniques.

2.20 – 2.45 pm: Artist profile: Agnee
The hugely popular rock band Agnee, which has been around for over seven years now, will talk about their story, and provide insight into the ever-popular subject of living and touring with a band.

2.45 – 3pm: The Art of Performance with Monica Dogra
Undoubtedly one of the finest and most sought after performers in the country, Monica Dogra’s session will be a rare insight into her performances and on-stage presence.

3pm – 3.30 pm: Q & A with Ranjit Barot, Agnee and Monica Dogra

3.45 pm – 4pm: Vinyl Talk with DJs Uri and Marc Hype (Berlin)
For aspiring DJs, or those simply interested in the art of DJing, this session is the perfect opportunity to see two master turnablists showcase their expertise at close quarters, and discuss all things vinyl.

4pm – 4.15 pm: From Studio to Stage with Jim Dunloop (Berlin) and Marc Hype
Maschine producer/pianist Jim Dunloop will team up with DJ Marc Hype to showcase the many ways in which two musicians of widely different genres may collaborate.

4.15 pm to 4.30 pm: Q & A with DJ Uri, Jim Dunloop and Marc Hype

4.50 pm – 5pm: Frequency Modulation with Vasuda Sharma and Jovian Soans
Vasuda Sharma on vocals, will team up with sound engineer Jovian Soans, to demonstrate and discuss the various ways in which sound engineering may be used innovatively to entirely alter the outcome of a performance.

5pm – 6.30 pm: Jingle Jangle with Ramon Ibrahim, Dhruv Ghanekar and Jelle Visser
A process that usually takes over a day, and often more, these musicians will compose a soundtrack for a TV commercial from scratch in just an hour, using a brief given to them from the audience. Additionally, every step of their composition will be visible to the participants of the seminar, and be accompanied by explanations from Ashutosh Phatak.

6.30 pm – 6.45 pm: Q & A with Ashutosh Phatak, Dhruv Ghanekar, Ramon Ibrahim, Jelle Visser, Vasuda Sharma and Jovian Soans

6.45 pm – 7pm: One Track Mind with Philippe Lemm, Sean Richey, Jeff Koch, Angelo DiLoreto, Andrea Wood and Pawan Benjamin
In the music industry, a sessions musician dons many hats. The TSM Pro School Faculty – comprising drummer Philippe Lemm, guitarist Sean Richey, bassist Jeffrey Koch, keyboardist Angelo Di Loreto, vocalist Andrea Wood and course director and saxophone player Pawan Benjamin – will perform one song in a number of different genres to demonstrate just how.

7.15 pm – 8pm: All-star jam
The evening will close with an exciting all-star jam, featuring all the musicians participating in the seminar.
