World Music Day Round Up: Fete Da Le Musique, Jeremy Loops, Jamsteady, Indiearth, Sunburn & More

21 June 2013

“Music means the world to us. It’s not a job but it is a passion, a passion for which we live. It's life for us. It is our prayer it is our spiritual connect. We'll be performing at 39, Hauz Khas Village. It is a newly opened club. We'll concentrate on tracks from our debut album Ampersand. Otherwise we'll also do some French material and funk.” - Adil, Adil & Vasundhara

It's world music day, and case you've been living offline and haven't seen the outbreak of events happening across the country, it's a day of musical celebration. Aside from the many events being specially curated, some have chosen this as a date for new announcements. We thought we'd do a round up of some of the most exciting happenings across the country:

Events:

Alliance Francaise (Chennai) alongside the Goethe Institut have put together a 2 day festival featuring several open air and indoor concerts from a host of Chennai based acts. The second day will also feature a "musical march" between Alliance Francaise and Goethe Institut. A full line up can be seen below.

Delhi's HKV, will also be hosting it's very own mini-festival, once again with support from Alliance Francaise (Delhi).

Alongside a band competition organised by Alliance Francaise students, revellers will be able to watch the village come alive with street performances and events taking place at pretty much all the usual suspects (and some new ones) in the area. A free event for all.

Delhi's blueFROG will also be showcasing the incredible talents of South African based folk musician Jeremy Loops with support from Pilgrim & The Alibi. Loops is modern folk artist who performs with a loop pedal, layering tunes like a one man band. Frequently, collaborators join him on stage, so expect the unexpected.

Other notable events include Jamsteady hosting The Lightyears Explode and Ganesh Talkies as part of Kolkata's celebration of World music day, again alongside the support of Alliance Francaise (Kolkata), Citizen Of The World playing at Pune's High Spirits and Gods Robots in Delhi.

**More info on all these events, and others happening across the country can be found on our events page here**
