Lifafa To Launch Debut Album With Sulk Station In New Delhi

11 February 2013

Earlier this year we picked up on an electronic solo project from Suryakant Sawhney, frontman of Peter Cat Recording Co. (Watch their stunning new music video here).

Titled Lifafa with a self titled debut release: 'Lifafa I', it showcased a lo-fi, experimental, abstract and glitchy sound; a new chapter for a seasoned musician who's already had a number of strong releases in the past with his New Delhi based band pcrc. (Stream 'Lifafa I' in full here)

"I basically started producing electronica in 2011 but discovered I kinda suck at dance music so I went another direction. Lifafa is just me trying out electronic production methods with traditional music." – Lifafa

Sulk Station (pictured), still one of the India's biggest secrets, and not that secretly one of our favourite upcoming acts in the country will be playing alongside Lifafa on the night.

A duo formed of Rahul Giri and Tanvi Rao, they define their music as “mellowdramatic pop”, a sound influenced by electronic and downtempo genres and Indian classical music. With vocalist Tanvi Rao recently being nominated in the 'Best Female Vocalist' category for the Jack Daniel’s Annual Rock Awards and Rahul being picked as the #1 producer to watch out for by Border Movement and Wild City, Sulk Station are making waves across the country. This will be the bands second performance in New Delhi following their brilliant debut show back in May 2012. (Stream LP in full here)

Hosted by Wild City, the album launch will take place on 22 February at Cocaine Club. More info here
