Snoop Dogg To Tour India In January. Dates Inside

29 November 2012

Unless you've been asleep for the last 24 hours, you'll have heard the news.

Snoop Dogg in his Rastafarian alter ego Snoop Lion, after months of speculation has self-confirmed an India tour in late January. Although it's unlikely he'll be supported by any other major rappers (not even Tupac's hologram), you can be sure to expect a large stage show like no other in the country.

The question still remains however as to whether he'd like to use this opportunity to solely share the output of his epiphany on the island of Jamaica or whether he'll mix it up with a cross-genre show showcasing old and new tracks.

It was earlier this year that the D.O double G publicly announced his new found interest in Reggae music as well as a new name given to him by a Rastafarian priest in Jamaica.

"I didn't know until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, 'Snoop Dogg.' And he looked me in my eyes and said, 'No more. You are the light; you are the lion.' From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there." - Snoop Lion

It can be difficult to take a spiritual awakening seriously when it’s presented as part of an album (soon to be released), film and book promotion. Whether a media ploy or not, if previous shows are anything to go by, it's still clear his heart is in it. We're going to go, but would rather hear Gin & Juice over La La La. Let's be honest.

"Anytime the spirit calls you, you have to go. I always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated." - Snoop Lion

Snoop's Indian dates so far confirmed are:

January 11 – Amanora Park Town, Pune
January 13 – Leisure Valley, Gurgaon
