Naezy Reiterates His Presence With New EP 'Anti-Fitna' & Launch Shows

12 April 2024

Mumbai-based rapper and a pioneer of the city's desi hip-hop style, Naved Shaikh aka Naezy has been in and out of the spotlight since being catapulted within it with the 2019 film 'Gully Boy'. In the same year that marks 10 years of his defining single 'Aafat', the rapper addresses the chatter around his returns and absences with the single 'Intro 2024' the first single from his upcoming EP 'Anti-Fitna'.

The track's lyrics address everything from Naezy's rise, what got him away from its peak, the let-down by allies, take-down chatter in his absence and his intention to return in the face of it with an EP that he says is a counterforce to rising negativity and hatred in the country's hip-hop. They are delivered with the same rapid aggressive style Naezy popularised in the country but with a fresher combination of a dubstep and bass music-charged production.

To launch the EP, which comes out on April 21, Naezy will host two shows in Mumbai and Pune. Presenting themselves as a "coming together of community, celebrating the love for hip-hop", the gigs will also feature the likes of Kaam Bhaari, Dopeadlicz, Major C and The Dharavi Dream Project at Mumbai's antiSocial on April 21 and Shreyas & Vedang, RADA and Rocky Gorkhali at Pune's antiSocial on April 27.
