Sampriti, Irfana Hameed & Kikomba Release Assamese Amapiano With 'DJANNA'

29 April 2024

After amping up her output of singles this year, Goa-based Assamese singer-songwriter-producer Sampriti has recently collaborated with Kodaikanal-born Goa-based rapper Irfana Hameed and local contemporary Kikomba on the single 'DJANNA' (pronounced 'jana').

A rare offering of amapiano, a South African hybrid subgenre of deep house, lounge music and Kwaito that's become a global phenomenon in dance music, from India and perhaps the only entry in the genre which employs Assamese. The track couples the warm pads and invigorative percussive basslines of the genre with lyrics around finding confidence and venturing towards one's goals.
