Shashwat Bulusu Releases His Fan-Favourite Song 'Raani' As A Single

Shashwat Bulusu's song 'Raani' has long circulated among listeners through bootlegs and live recordings to become one of the most popular offerings from his penmanship, even though it never had an official release as a record. Changing that and giving the audience what they have requested for so long, the Baroda artist has just released the song as a single.

Coupled with his largely English-based discography, the song even remained an outlier until the singer-songwriter's Hindi debut last year with 'Aabad' and 'Charkha'.

“‘Raani’ is a song I wrote as a teenager 10 years ago about finding peace in the mountains,” says Shashwat, who feels too removed as a songwriter from a song he wrote a decade ago – avoiding releasing the song for a long time irrespective of the love it got. "I tried to live in denial of the love it kept receiving but it is time to end this decade-long relationship with ‘Raani’ and give it to the audience. The song belongs to them now."

The song's age means 'Raani' forgoes the unique edge of compositions like 'Aabad' for a simplicity that has made it accessible to a wider audience, in addition to the blaming vulnerability that couples well with Shashwat's gentle voice, which features its classical training more overtly on the release.
