Call For Applications: Toto Music Awards, OneBeat, Holistic Musician Academy, B-Side

A variety of recurring opportunities that have informed and championed now-recognised names of India's alternative music community are calling for applications for their upcoming editions alongside new programmes. Find details about them below:
Toto Music Awards
Toto Funds the Arts' (TFA's) Toto Music Award returns for its 20th edition, making it one of the longest-running supportive awards for independent musicians in India. For its upcoming 2024 edition, the award is inviting musicians under the age of 30 with Indian citizenship to send original works – encouraging people from all backgrounds and genres. Following suit from last year, Toto Music Award will select 2 winners who will each be rewarded INR 60,000. Previous receipients have included Peter Cat Recording Co., RANJ, Prateek Kuhad and Prabh Deep.

OneBeat 13 & 14
The U.S.-based music exchange and incubator OneBeat is inviting applications for not one but two of its upcoming editions. The 13th edition of the 2-month long funded residency will take place during April-May while the 14th edition will take place over September-October. Musicians between the age of 19-35 will come together to create and perform original music, lead workshops for the youth, collaborate with local musicians and offer shows across U.S. before returning to their home countries "to develop projects linked to mutually-reinforcing networks of music-driven social enterprises".
Delhi NCR-based artist Rohan Sinha aka Dolorblind recounts from his experience participating in the programme earlier this year: "I met an incredibly diverse set of people. Just learning their musical perspective and of the local scenes in the US led me to totally deconstruct and reconstruct my own musical philosophies, processes etc. besides putting me in touch with an inspiring cohort of artists."

Holistic Musician Academy: The Complete Independent Artist Roadmap
One of the ex-jury members of the previously-mentioned Toto Music Awards, the predominantly Berlin-based artist T.L. Mazumdar aka EveryNowHere is also intaking mentees for his Holistic Musician Academy's 'The Complete Independent Artist Roadmap' program. With a long-standing career as a touring and collaborating musician and educator working with the likes of K.M. Music Conservatory, T.L. Mazumdar will focus on helping musicians from all backgrounds, age groups and experience level to pivot their practice to become more sustainable for the long haul. The programme will work towards teaching applicants to take care of their mental health and psyche while also informing them about the technicalities of music business, songwriting and performance.

B-SIDE (w/ Jay Pei)
Goa-based Serendipity Arts Festival is also hosting a music production residency for aspiring musicians of all skill-level (including complete beginners). A week-long programme led by acclaimed New Delhi DJ and producer Jay Pei, B-SIDE will train 8 individuals in everything from the basic of ableton live to creating and mixing compositions. The applicant will be expected to take care of their travel to and from Goa and having the necessary hardware to participate in the programme.
