Tasnneem, Souled Out & More Feature On Qilla Records' 'Forte, Vol. 10'

New Delhi's prominent music label Qilla Records just released the latest edition of their compilation series with 'Forte, Vol. 10'.

With a sharp turn from the breaks of volume 9, the 4-track release begins with minimal ambient ostinatos of Mumbai-based producer Souled Out's 'A Shrine To Modern Ways'. The hypnotic arpeggios and the buried melodic motifs lead into the found sound textures of experimental act Surbhi Mittal aka Pale Blue Dotter who ushers in a shift with a dynamic drop of the wobbling bass and a disjointed drum ensemble on 'Chronic Cycles'.

Smoothly flowing into a second half which yet stands in complete contrast to the former two tracks, Tasnneem brings the sensibilities of a frequent DJ through the chopped vocal samples and acid-style basslines over consistently thumping drums on 'Aren't I?'. For the closer, Berlin's Pâris makes the incessant kicks even more guttural and buries them under washes of pads to create a subaqueous environment with the track 'Stuck'.
