Call For Participation: Survey About Women & Nightlife In India

Not so long ago Wild City launched an initiative to support skills development for women in the music industry. This was following a survey we sent out to find out more about how women want to engage with the sector and to also start to understand the struggles and obstacles they faced. One of the main pieces of learning from that data was that there were a lot of women who want to learn how to make electronic music.

We then launched a Pilot production workshop in New Delhi in December to test the waters and engaged with a small group of amazing women – each from very different backgrounds and skill sets but all very passionate about learning how to make music.

The deeper we delved and the more conversations that we had it was impossible to ignore the fact that in addition to creating more opportunities for women to develop skills – it is also essential that we work towards making nightlife spaces more inclusive for women.

We quickly realised that we needed to get a much wider perspective on women’s engagement with nightlife in India in order to start putting statistics behind our statements and claims.

We’re thrilled to announce that in partnership with Wild City, the British Council have commissioned this piece of research in collaboration with writers and independent researchers Shivangini Tandon and Richa Kaul Padte. And this is where we need your help!

If you are a woman in India who engages with nightlife - we’d love to hear about your experience! All entries are completely anonymous. This is (probably) the first report of its kind in India and we’re looking to make this an annual affair. We also have some other VERY exciting news to share with you soon – watch this space…
