State Of Bengal Set To Play In Delhi Tonight

15 May 2012

Most would remember State Of Bengal as one of the key producers to have emerged from the British-Asian music scene which originally gave birth to the late 90’s movement of 'Asian Underground’. Needless to say, his reputation as one of the most innovative and pioneering artists is still held today as he continues to push boundaries with his varied projects, albums and inspirations.

His music, like his Dj'ing style is an eclectic genre defying mix of drum and bass, trip-hop, hip-hop, breaks and IDM all intertwined with the unique playfulness and Indian classical influence that is the distinctive stamp of 'S.O.B'. (Remember this one?)

A staple DJ at the influential Anokha club night in London's East End during the mid-1990s, State of Bengal has toured the world opening for Björk, held DJ residences in some of London's most forward thinking clubs and toured extensively around the globe both individually as a DJ and with his live band.

Most recently, Stage Of Bengal has been touring India including a show at M.A.D Festival with a full live band and Paban Das Baul guesting on 4 tracks. He also did a interactive DJ gig at Bangalore's reputed venue Counter Culture backed by live drums.

Now on his way to the capital, Sam and his drummer are due to play Delhi's Out Of The Box, tonight alongside Nucleya and Audio Pervert. To celebrate his first Delhi show in years, Sam has very kindly offered us a segment from his Bangalore show up for free download:
