Stiff Kittens Bring a Homage To 'Serge Gainsbourg' To blueFROG

20 June 2012

In celebration of World Music Day (June 21), Stiff Kittens Inc and blueFROG, in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Delhi are planning to bring to the Mehrauli venue 'A Homage To Serge Gainsbourg'. A project centred around the songs of iconic French composer and musician Serge Gainsbourg.

Gainsbourg was a singer, songwriter, poet, composer, artist, actor and director. His varied musical style and individuality made him extremely difficult to categorise and left behind a legacy that has been firmly established into the 21st century. Today, he is often regarded as one of the world's most influential popular musicians.

His music, always progressive, covered many styles: jazz, ballads, mambo, lounge, reggae, pop (including adult contemporary pop, kitsch pop, ye-ye pop, 80s pop, pop-art pop, prog pop, space-age pop, psychedelic pop, and erotic pop), funk, disco, calypso, Africana, bossa nova, and rock n' roll.

Production company Stiff Kittens Inc (Medicine Show, Ska! Ska! Ska!) have put together a revue with a line up of 13 musicians and dancers featuring 25 songs of the French composer. Attendees can expect to hear classic songs such as Initials BB, Intoxicated Man, La Javanaise, Histoire de Melody Nelson, Laisse tombeur les filles, 69 anee erotique, Je T’Aime...Mon Non Plus and Lemon Incest just to name a few.

'A Homage To Serge Gainsbourg' will take place at blueFROG Delhi on 21 June. For a little acoustic preview of the show, a small section of the line up will be playing at Elma's Bakery in Hauz Khas Village tonight (June 20) from 7pm.
