Browse John Peel’s Record Collection Online

1 May 2012

Late broadcasting legend John Peel’s record collection, one of the most celebrated in the world, has been turned into an “interactive online museum” called The Space.

Comprised of 25,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and thousands of CDs, the project has been put together by The John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, Eye Film and TV and Klik with support from the Arts Council and BBC. The website will allow fans not only to explore his collection but to also view his “personal notes, archive performances and new filmed interviews with musicians.”

Although you can’t listen to tracks directly off the website, there are links for you to stream/purchase the records. The point is, this is a mind expanding and educational resource for any music lover and an incredibly indepth insight into probably one of the most exciting record collections in the world.

The first 100 records are currently online with more being posted on a weekly basis to reveal the entire collection that will be online between May and October this year.
