Delhi Based Hashback Hashish Releases Debut LP

16 March 2012

Delhi based producer and DJ, Hashback Hashish recently (quite secretly) released his debut LP, titled The Grinning Naked Bunch.

Put out independently, the eclectic selection of original songs is the product of efforts spread over a little under 2 years. While DJ's would be hardpressed to find more than a handful of floor-ready cuts, the sheer scope of the selection lends itself to an interesting listen.

Minimal music can sometimes fall into a boring category where everything sounds the same, a category which I'd exclusively listen to either live (when it's loud and danceable) or otherwise not very much. On this record however, there's a distinct variation between each track, turning it into an album that one can listen to over and over again.

“‘I wish we could spend July by the sea, browning ourselves and feeling water-weighted hair flow behind us from a dive. I wish our gravest concerns were the summer gnats. I wish we were hungry for hot dogs and dopes. It would be nice to smell the starch of summer linens and the faint odour of talc in blistering summer bath houses. We could lie in long citoneuse beams of the five o’clock sun on the plage at Juan-les-Pins and hear the sound of the drum and piano being scooped out to sea by the waves."

"The dream created by these lines by Zelda Fitzgerald is what I'm hoping to deliver through these songs. Some of these are definitely products of when I was living those daydreams. I pray that you see them too. I pray for world peace, the safety of kittens and that Rowling's new 'Adult Book' is actually Harry Potter: The Grown-Up Years” - Hashback Hashish

Within India, the album is available for download via his Bandcamp and internationally it can be found over at iTunes. As usual however, you can listen to it in full right here:
