The Dosa Hunt Is On

24 February 2012

Due to be released later this year, Dosa Hunt is a short film produced and hosted by Stereogum editor Amrit Singh and featuring a number of musicians, many (though not all) of Indian descent.

As well as Amrit it features Himanshu and Dapwell from Das Racist, Rostam from Vampire Weekend, Anand from Yeasayer, Alan from Neon Indian and composer Vijay Iyer, with a narrative purely about South Indian food in NYC; specifically a search for the best dosa in the city.

Dosa Hunt is a purely independent film. A labour of love through a genuine passion for food, culture and NYC. Directed by Sam Carroll and edited by Zoe Schack, the film was made on a shoe-string budget with no underwriters and no corporate or media affiliation. To add to the family affair, Singh's mother decorated the van the boys travelled in whilst his brother drove it. The films logo was even designed by Anil Gupta, his tattoo artist who grew up making bollywood logos, posters and billboards with his father in India.
