Registrations Open For India's First Vocal Orchestra With Shlomo

29 November 2011

Voctronica is an exciting new project that has been launched by the British Council in association with Zomba to create India's first vocal orchestra.

International beatboxing sensation and Guinness World Record holder Shlomo is leading the project and looking for beatboxers and vocalists in the country to take part with the assistance of Scribe's legendary front man Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. The concept is based on a beatboxing choir that Shlomo created in 2007 called 'The Vocal Orchestra'.

Shlomo says, “I'm so excited to be working with the British Council and Zomba on Voctronica - I believe that the human voice has the unique power to bring people together and ever since I toured India in 2010 I've wanted to create something new using the wealth of vocal talent that India has to offer. It will sound like nothing you have ever heard before!”

All aspiring vocalists and beatboxers need to register for the project by uploading a short (max 5min) audition onto Youtube and then include the link when registering here

Registration deadline is 10 December 2011.

Initial auditions will be online and10 finalists will be selected to take part in an 8 day training workshop led by Testament, beatboxer/MC and a member of Shlomo and the Lip Factory (Shlomo's brand new vocal project). The Voctronica ensemble will continue training by Shlomo via Skype resulting in performances across India as the country's first ever beatboxing troupe.
