Fire Destroys Delhi Venue: Out Of The Box

27 October 2011

As most of the country enjoyed the festivities that come with Diwali a number of people in the popular nightlife spot of Hauz Kaus Village in New Delhi were coming to grips with the loss of the cities most recently opened venue, Out Of The Box.

The venue, which opened its doors to the public just over 2 months ago, fell victim to a fire believed to have started from a rogue firecracker at around 6pm last night. Luckily no-one was hurt as the building which was gutted, was closed for Diwali.

A well thought out and popular venue, Out Of The Box prided itself on the breadth of its music policy, sound quality and genuinely trying to do something different. The list of artists that had played there over the last couple of months read like a who's who of underground artists within India.

As promotors and musicians alike offered their condolences, an official statement from the venue last night positively suggested a return to form:

"Due to a certain unfortunate incident that occurred at Out Of The Box today, the place will be closed indefinitely. We would like to thank everyone that came out to help and showed support. Out Of The Box will come back bigger, better and stronger!! With a rebirth from the ashes"

Earlier today a second statement was issued from the venue:

"Thanks everyone for all the support and all the blessings. The fire started due to a fire cracker, but the place was closed down for Diwali so no one got hurt and yet at the same time no one was there to spot the fire. Out Of The Box will re-open Soon with a bigger bang!! Rising from the ashes to the top!"

For now keep an eye on our events page here for venue updates of all future events at Out Of The Box.
