Boiler Room To Debut In Mumbai With British Producer Actress
21 November 2016
You might need to sit down for this…
Underground music juggernaut Boiler Room will be making their debut in India on 1 December, with Budweiser x Boiler Room What’s Brewing In…Mumbai. Headlining and co-curating the event is techno game-changer and experimentalist Actress. Joining him will be a host of homegrown acts including _RHL, Sandunes and Oceantied.
In case you’ve been dwelling at the bottom of a lake for the last 6 years, Boiler Room is an online music broadcaster that took the underground music community by storm since it began in 2010. The platform has grown into a veritable force in the industry today, and BR’s award-winning content reaches over a whopping 157 million music fans every month.
Have a look at their content on Youtube to get a feel of their incredible parties, which feature some of the most forward thinking producers and musicians in recent years. You can also read a little bit more about Boiler Room in our interview with the company’s head of music, Raji Rags. Head over to their website for an avalanche of good music and for more about the work they’ve done.
Their latest property - Budweiser x Boiler Room What’s Brewing In… is a 12 part, global series whose goal it is to shed light on relatively unknown and emerging music scenes around the world. India is the second in the series that launched in Brussels earlier this year.
Actress, a.k.a. Darren Cunningham’s reputation precedes him. Arguably one of the most forward thinking, innovative techno producers today (“composer” might be a better word), the Werkdiscs founder’s cerebral brand of music caught the attention of the international community by storm ever since the release of 2008’s ‘Hazyville’ LP. His most recent big project with Boiler Room saw him collaborate with the London Contemporary Orchestra, which saw brooding electronica juxtaposed with classical composition, performed live at the Barbican.
Joining Actress for Boiler Room’s landmark debut in India are three of India’s finest producers – Sandunes (who recently released the impressive ‘Downstream’ LP just a couple of months ago), recent RBMA grad Oceantied and Consolidate co-founder and one half of Sulk Station – Rahul Giri.
The hype is on. Follow Boiler Room on Facebook for updates. The event takes place on 1 December in Mumbai, entry is by invite only but as always with Boiler Room, a live stream of the show will be fed online simultaneously.
