OX7GEN Releases New Techno EP 'EVENIRE' On HE.SHE.THEY

Known foremost for frontrunning the drum & bass output from India, Aditya Ashok aka OX7GEN turns towards techno on his latest EP 'EVENIRE', which he releases via HE.SHE.THEY, the seminal London label that has previously offered music from the likes of Dana Montana, Waxwings and Chloe Robinson x DJ ADHD.

Offering 3 original tracks and their edits, OX7GEN reports making the EP in the early months of moving to a new studio space in Goa, claiming to have "finally figured out what I want to say and it’s the most authentic I’ve ever felt as a producer."

'EVENIRE' is primarily defined by techno's proprietary visceral four-to-the-floor rhythms and deep basslines that take a cue from trance on 'Simula Endzone' and 'Neo Sensei', and Berlin's wall-shaking repertoire of dance music on 'W84U'. Behind them, distant echoes of vocals grow into engulfing textures to create the fever dream effect that places these productions into the late hours of the dancefloor where focus begins to blur and overall immersive mood becomes the message. With the trinity of these elements at the centre, OX7GEN brings several influences into the mix with the gritty arpeggiation on the first two numbers reminiscing acid house being the most notable. The diverse influences help the producer keep the productions rooted to traditional grounds of dance music while keeping it fresh by avoiding the cliches.
