Delhi Sultanate & General Zooz Discuss Reggae On DJ MoCity’s Motellacast

19 July 2016

It’s been about a year that DJ MoCity a.k.a. Mohammed Abood has been running Motellacast, a Mixcloud series that seeks out fresh, young talent in the region. If you haven’t been following it yet, we suggest you should.

DJ MoCity also recently launched a new sub-series of talks and interviews under the Motellacast banner, called ‘In Conversation’.

"This first episode will be about the history and current situation of Reggae in India. This topic is of special importance to me as I have seen reggae culture grow in India since the very beginning. I will be moderating the discussion between General Zooz and Delhi Sultanate." - DJ MoCity

Like he says, the series kicked off with a fascinating discussion recorded in the capital at Blue Tokai on where reggae in India is right now and where it’s going in the future. The episode features Delhi Sultanate (BFR, The Ska Vengers) and General Zooz (one of the founding members of the Reggae Rajahs). It’s an extensive, in-depth talk that maps out a very important, albeit niche movement in the Indian contemporary space, and it's full of little nuggets of wisdom.

We’re very keen to see what Motellacast covers next. Follow DJ MoCity on Facebook for updates and check out the Motellacast MixCloud and website for more. Listen to the first episode on ‘In Conversation’ below.
