Tyrell Dub Corp Treads A Fine Line Between Dance Music & Abstraction On Latest EP ‘Time Velocity’

​​Tyrell Dub Corp, Sanil Sudan’s (who also produces as FILM) dub techno moniker just released their fourth EP, ‘Time Velocity’.

In line with his ‘less is more’ approach, the 3-track EP comprises songs that aim to strike a balance between danceability and artistic experimentation. Bass heavy sequences and powerful driving grooves combine with an abstract edge consisting of heavy experimentation as the New Delhi artist pays homage to minimal techno pioneer Robert Hood.

While the first track ‘Time Velocity’ manages to strike that balance effortlessly, the remaining tracks ‘Electric’ and ‘District 9’ lean on either side of the dance floor jam to abstraction spectrum, termed rightly as “weightless techno”. Tyrell Dub Corp’s sound in ‘Electric’ is extremely fast paced and energetic, with minimalistic additions a third way in creating a sense of space. On the other hand the highly experimental ‘District 9’ relies on discreet variations, subtle changes and twists to give the listener a very bumpy and unique sonic experience.
