Listen: When Pandas Attack Releases ‘Requiem’ EP

25 May 2016

Delhi based producer and DJ Ankur Chauhan a.k.a. When Pandas Attack has just released a balmy summer EP titled ‘Requiem’.

Think warm, welcoming textures, high pitched vocal samples and reverbed synths of the Tycho, Purity Ring and ODESZA side of the electronic (“chillwave”) music camp that’s so popular here. It’s densely layered, accessible and twinkly (the word makes sense when you listen to it) music that sees Chauhan explore the side of sound that first got him into making music:

"With this EP, I was trying to revisit the stuff I'd started off with, when I started When Pandas Attack. So it's a revisit to that sound but with fresh approach and though process, which clearly delineates it from my previous work. Also, spent a lot of time learning how sounds work together. I've got a bunch of releases planned ahead for this year, which are just mementos of where I'm at headspace-wise. Maybe if I finally get it right, there will be a live show sometime this year."

We’re very keen to see how this translates live. Hopefully, we’ll also be getting an album in the not-so-distant future along with some collaborations (particularly in the vocal department).

You can listen to it in its entirety below. Follow When Pandas Attack on Facebook for updates and down load the EP (for free!) here on Bandcamp.
