Hamza Rahimtula Dials It Back To Basics On 'Disco Dada'

With a career built upon offering various shades of house and disco, while keeping it close to the defining core of the genres, New Delhi's Hamza Rahimtula recently released a new single 'Disco Dada', homaging retro styles and its influence in Bollywood.

Hamza dials it back to the basics with a strong beat laid over disco drums and percussive fills with the snappy rhythms of the clavinet adding to the fun and sweeping strings providing the drama for a no-nonsense take. While sampling speeches now often feels an overdone trick to avid music listeners, Hamza opts for inserting a snippet of Mithun Chakrobarty's interview about being a "married bachelor" to add to the light-hearted nature of the track and also perhaps give a callback to the Bollywood of yesteryears when disco briefly dominated the soundtracks.
