Call For Applications: OneBeat 2016

2 February 2016

OneBeat, a music exchange and incubator for music-based social entrepreneurship, is calling for applications for their month long 2016 fellowship, set to take place this fall. The application deadline is 5 February, 5PM (EST).

The program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, & produced by Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation. It aims to bring together innovative musicians from across the globe to work on collaborative projects designed to make a positive impact on local and global communities.

The fellowship is open to applicants between the ages of 19 and 35, eligible from specific countries and regions mentioned here on the website. Musicians from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with or without formal musical training. Once the residency is over, OneBeat goes on a two-week tour featuring performances, workshops, interactive public events and more.

Mumbai based producer Sanaya Ardeshir (better known as Sandunes) attended the program in 2014. This is what she told us about her experience last year - “OneBeat was the most expansive and broadening musical journey which changed the way I create, collaborate and respond to music on many levels. It was so touching to be part of a cross-cultural music family. I wish I could do it again.”
