BMR: Border Movement Opens Applications For German-South Asian Residency Program

10 December 2015

Wild City is very proud to announce the launch of BMR - a residency program in partnership with Goethe Institut, Border Movement, Ableton and Musicboard Berlin.

Each year, three South Asian artists (eligible from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal and the Maldives) will be selected to spend two months each in Berlin. One German artist will be eligible for a six-week residency in a South Asian city.

The BMR program will be a great platform to expose artists to new musical cultures and give them the opportunity to collaborate and record with fellow musicians. The selectees will also have the chance to interact with local labels and musical businesses and even perform gigs in Berlin (or in case of Berlin applicants, within the South Asian country of their residency). BMR tailor made to suit each artist and is inclusive of all expenses, so we strongly recommend you apply.

Participants will be selected by a four-member jury, representing our partner organisations. Border Movement will cover all travel, accommodation, food and production costs for this project. Each BMR residency will be documented and presented on Border Movement’s website and social media channels, which will feature regular articles, visual diaries and posts by the artist and local writers.

Applications are now open for BMR #1 (click here to fill out the form). The deadline for entries is 1 February 2016. Full details about how to apply and eligibility criteria can be found here.
