Exclusive: Listen To ‘Stay’ From Pippin’s Forthcoming ‘Dreamwalker’ EP
10 June 2015
We’re very pleased to be hosting an exclusive stream of ‘Stay’ – a brand new track from Jatin Puri, known better by his alter ego, Pippin.
The Delhi based artist is all set to release his sophomore EP ‘Dreamwalker’ via New York based record label High Chai Recordings later this month. We had the privilege of giving it an early listen and once again, we’ve been left stimulated by his continuing evolution.
You can hear the whole thing later this month, but for now, Pippin has generously allowed us to stream an exceptional single from the release. The mellow, synthy sounds of 'Stay' are a far cry from ‘1010’. Pippin abandons its ‘post-dubstep’, instrumental tunes, taking a hazy dream-pop route complete with meandering, lo-fi vocal notes and impassioned lyrics.
If you’ve heard and seen the video for ‘Sea of Gold’ you’ll be somewhat familiar with the direction Pippin is taking now, though ‘Stay’ sees a more interesting side to his voice, as he mentions below.
“Dreamwalker is a 4-track EP that I started working on before I wrote 'Sea of Gold'. I've wanted to release an EP for a while but it took a little longer than I thought to choose and finalise the tracks. Also I wanted to release it on a label rather than just putting it out there myself. I'm super happy that I managed to get High Chai Recordings to release it. The EP finally came down to 4 songs, that seemed interconnected. The last one 'Stay' is special because I wanted to show a different side to my voice. Its a very ambient and chilled sound. It kind of takes you to different spaces in your mind - at least that's what it did for me.” – Pippin
We’re excited about the upcoming album and very keen to hearing it being played live. ‘Dreamwalker’ will be released on 22 June via High Chai Recordings. Follow Pippin on Facebook for updates and check out his SoundCloud for more music.
Pippin will be going on tour this month to promote the album. Here are the dates confirmed so far:
Mumbai - 13 June - Cafe Nemo
Delhi - 18 June - Barsoom
