A Guy Called Gerald Confirmed For By The Pier 2.0

3 February 2015

Following the success of the first edition, Regenerate’s By The Pier property is back on the coast of Mumbai on 20 February 2015.

Excitingly, acid house, hardcore and jungle legend A Guy Called Gerald will be taking the reigns with local support from Whyt Noyz, Audioglitch, Blurry Slur, Chhab, Cyrus, Kaleekarma, Orbs & Zen and Troja.

A seminal figure in dance music culture, he has collaborated with icons like Frankie Knuckles and Herbie Hancock and is well known for kicking off the acid house frenzy back at the tail end of the 80s with his timeless records Voodoo Ray and Pacific State (as part of 808 State).

Fast forward 25 years and 9 albums and you’ll see the trail of a figure that has constantly had a hand in shaping dance music culture. A series of releases on his Juice Box label helped create the blueprint for jungle and D&B while he’s continued to deliver blistering live sets across the globe. And now he's coming to India.

If your brain is still straining then check out ‘Voodoo Ray’ (below) which first played at the infamous Hacienda in 1988, becoming the best independently released single of that year. This is also a must watch.

Mumbai’s now second open-air, deep house event, ‘By The Pier 2.0’ offers a day packed with world-class entertainment. Tickets range from Rs 1700 to Rs 2500 and can be purchased here. You can keep in the know by following Regenerate's Facebook page here.
