Watch: Tarik Release First Single ‘Nobody Knows’

Shillong based audio-visual outfit Tarik have just released the first video and single ‘Nobody Knows’. The song serves as a radical critique and examination of the region and people that birthed the band. Tarik’s lead singer, Wanphrang Diengdoh, is also responsible for the video – unsurprising considering he also heads Delhi/Shillong based indie film production company Reddur.
The song’s strength lies in its powerful lyrics, which contrast with the otherwise mellow tone of the track. Tarik tells us – “The entire act is framed by a visual cacophony of people and spaces in Shillong that the tourism board and the news would rather not share.”
The thought provoking video mixes snippets of film that Diengdoh has been filming over the last few years – images of the streets of Shillong interspersed with clips of the band playing, and interestingly, a fictional visual account of a deal gone wrong. There might be a little too much going on, but it’s an interesting watch nonetheless.
