Details Announced For The Ziro Festival Of Music

It’s that time of the year again – one of India’s happiest outdoor festivals, the Ziro Festival of Music is right around the corner and we’ve already packed our gumboots. This is the third edition of the music festival - to be held in the lush, verdant Ziro valley and misty hills of Arunachal Pradhesh.
The festival will be held this month over four days from 25-28 September and will feature performances by a number of bands and artists from the country. Last year’s headliners included Lee Ronaldo and Steve Shelley of the legendary US based band Sonic Youth apart from stellar acts by homegrown talents such as Menwhopause, Shaa’ir and Func, Sky Rabbit and Peter Cat Recording Co.
The 2014 edition sounds just as promising with a multi-genre linup which will feature performances by Still Dirty, Ska Vengers, Imphal Talkies, Your Chin, The Supersonics, Laxmi Bomb, Tankbund, The Vinyl Records and Madboy/Mink among others.
Ziro festival is unique in that it takes places in the culturally rich home of the Apatanis – a people who’ve shown incredible hospitality to visitors over the last two years. The location’s crisp weather and grassy grounds combined with the sounds from the Indian music arena make for an almost utopian experience.
