Twitter Launches 'Buy Now' Button. Goes On Trial Via Musicians

11 September 2014

Twitter has just announced that it's currently testing out an in-app “buy now” button, allowing users to purchase music without leaving the site interface.

The tool will allow users to store their bank details on Twitter's secure internal system so that when they come to a tweet that features a track that they like - they simply touch the button and said product wings its way to their inbox.

The service will be provided by online payments service Stripe, and will also offer exclusive music and merchandise, only available through Twitter’s iOS and Android apps. It's currently being trialled by a number of artists, that include Pharrell, Eminem, Death From Above 1979, The New Pornographers, Wiz Khalifa and Megadeth as well as nonprofits; Donors Choose, Glide, RED and retailers; Burberry, The Home Depot, just to name a few.
