Listen: New Flying Lotus Track Feat. Herbie Hancock

25 August 2014

Electro-god Flying Lotus has been decking the Internet with gory, psychadelic images and (slightly NSFW) teasers for his massively anticipated upcoming album – ‘You’re Dead!’ due to release this October. The artist revealed his full tracklist and impressive collaborations with legends in the international music circuit – Kendrik Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Thundercat and many more last month. It’s becoming more and more difficult to wait by the day.

Thankfully, FlyLo isn’t letting fans languish in need, dropping a fantastic new single off the album last Saturday.

In a very drowsy 9am interview with Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6, Steven Ellison - the mind behind Flying Lotus, talks about his upcoming album and what it felt like to work with legends – in particular, jazz veteran Herbie Hancock, who teamed up with the artist to produce the electro- jazz fusion brilliance that is ‘Moment of Hesitation’. The artist has milked his collaboration with Hancock to its outer limit with a layered jazz number featuring heavy doses of drums and horns.

‘You’re Dead!’ is set to release on October 7 via Warp, the busy label that will also be releasing the new Aphex Twin album, ‘Syro’ next month (here’s the highly informative press release). The artist’s interview and new track, ‘Moment of Hesitation’, can be heard here at approximately the 1:11:10 mark. Audiovisual sampler for the album is below:
